The Eagles

The Eagles were a great 70's rock band who produced singles such as "Take It Easy", "Hotel California", "Desperado", and lots more. They formed in 1971 and until 1980 they released 6 albums together. In 1980 the band members were all frustrated with each other and after just 9 years the band split up. All the band members gave solo music a shot after the break, and Don Henley was the most successful solo releasing songs like "In A New York Minute". Don Henley repeatedly insisted that the band wouldn't get back together until hell freezes over, but 14 years later in 1994 the Eagles reunited releasing the live album "Hell Freezes Over". Don Henley and Glenn Frey, both vocalists and various other instruments were in the band 1971-1980, 1994-present, Joe Walsh replaced Bernie Leadon in 1975, and has been there 1975-1980, 1994-present, Timothy Schmit replaced Randy Meisner on bass in 1977, he has been there 1977-1980, 1994-present, and Don Felder was in the band 1971-1980, 1994-2001. Felder turned on the band in 2001 after they had to let him go. He had been giving the band a hard time and when he released from the band he sued them claiming with charges of wrongful termination, breach of implied-in-fact contract, and breach of fiduciary duty. He claimed Glenn Frey, and Don Henley were taking to much profit for themselves. "Hole In The World" and "Long Road Out Of Eden" would later be released as well as multiple greatest hits albums. The band is currently preparing for a 2012 tour later this year.

Guns N' Roses

Guns N' Roses was a great band, with a lot of issues from band changes to drug charges to almost death. The only member of Guns N' Roses that has been in the band since it's start in 1985 is the bands founder Axl Rose. The bands best lineup ever was with Axl Rose (vocals), Slash (guitar), Izzy Stradlin (guitar), Duff McKagen (bass), and Steven Adler (drums). With this lineup the band released their biggest album "Appetite For Destruction" which went 18 times platinum in the U.S. producing such singles as "Sweet Child O' Mine", "Welcome To The Jungle", and "Paradise City". This great lineup wouldn't last long though, Steven Adler left in 1990, Izzy Stradlin left in 1991, Slash left in 1996, and Duff McKagen left in 1997. In 2001 Slash almost died of heart problems, due to drug overdoses and alcohol abuse at the age of 35. He managed to get through it and even went to form a new band with some previous members of Guns N' Roses, called Velvet Revolver which wasn't nearly as successful as Guns N' Roses.

AC/DC

AC/DC is a name that almost everybody knows, and is a band formed in 1973 by brothers Malcom and Angus Young who both play guitar. They have had a lot of changes in drummer's and bassist's especially early in the bands career but currently they have Phil Rudd on drums and Cliff Williams on bass. Bon Scott was the second singer of AC/DC replacing Dan Evans who was there for less than a year. Under Bon Scott's vocals the band released seven albums including "Highway To Hell", and "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap". In 1980 Bon Scott died of alcohol poisoning, and Brian Johnson came in to take his place. Brian Johnson did a good job singing for the band but was no Bon Scott. Brian Johnson's singing was first revealed on the 1980 album "Back In Black" which was the bands most successful album going 22 times platinum. With Johnson the band released 9 albums and produced lots of hit singles such as "Back In Black", "Thunderstruck", "Moneytalks", and more.

Def Leppard

Def Leppard is a band that started in 1977 but they didn't release an album until 1980 when they released "On Through The Night" which wasn't very successful. Joe Elliot (lead singer) and Rick Savage (bass) have been in the band since it started in 1977. Rick Allen replaced Tony Kenning on drums in '78, Phil Collen joined as a guitarist in 1982, and Vivian Campbell joined as a second guitarist in 1992. After releasing one of their 2 most successful albums "Pyromania" Rick Allen (drummer) lost his left arm in a car accident, but he remains the drummer for Def Leppard, working a lot with his legs to perform this task, and a few months after they released their other most successful album "Hysteria" with Rick Allen on drums. Def Leppard has released 13 albums including a greatest hits album and a live album, and these albums have produced huge hits such as "Pour Some Sugar On Me", "Photograph", "Bringin' On The Heart Break", and plenty more. In 2012 they are going on tour with Poison and Lita Ford.

Bruce Springsteen, An important influence on rock music

In 1973 Bruce Springsteen and the E street band hit the ground running in the music world releasing the album "Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.. In 1975 Springsteen released his third album "Born to Run" which was far more successful than his 2 previous albums ranking 3rd on the billboard 200. In March of this year he released a new album titled "Wrecking Ball" which was his best album since "The Rising" released in 2002. Through his 17 albums Springsteen has had a lot of chart topping songs including "Dancing in the Dark", "Glory Days", "Hungry Heart", "Born In The U.S.A.", and many more. 8 out of 17 albums have been #1 on the billboard 200 and 14 of his albums landed inside the top 5 on the billboard 200. He's won many Grammy awards as well as multiple other recognition's. His music is inspirational, and often filled with pride and truth. The song "This Depression" off of his new album is all about America's economy, and how horrible it is trying to get through it. Springsteen's music is great and has inspired many guitarists, and musicians.
The New Jersey born Bruce Springsteen nicknamed "The Boss" was doubtlessly the most important person in 70's music. He influenced a lot of bands including Bon Jovi, as well as some films such as cemetery junction. The only musician that is as important to music is Bob Dylan who had a large influence on Springsteen, and it shows in his music. Springsteen is one of the only rock musicians that can continue to release rock albums in this era of music, and still have them land at #1 on the billboard 200. He has had a great grasp on guitar since he began playing and tries to get people to see the world the way it is. Something a lot of people don't realize is that the song "Born In The U.S.A." was actually about the war in Vietnam, which was still going on at the time. Springsteen has been successful since 1973 when he started. If there's anybody that doesn't like Bruce Springsteen it's either because they've never heard his music, they don't understand it, or they just don't know what good music is.
Bruce hasn't had a lot of problems in his life like a lot of other band's from this time had, such has drug addictions and charges, or alcohol abuse, he and the E Street band managed to all keep clean. Springsteen was the foundation of almost all rock bands and rock music. Underneath every band was a little Springsteen. His concert's are something like you've never experienced before, and is something everybody should have the honor of attending at least once in their life's. The band has lost two members to death, Danny Federici in 2008 dying due to skin cancer who was the long time organist and accordion player for the band, and in 2011 Clarence Clemons the greatest saxophonist ever had a stroke and died. These were sad loses, not just for the band but for the world.

Poison

Poison was formed in 1983 and took a long time to find fame but in 1986 the release of "Look What The Cat Dragged In" went triple platinum and that got their foot in the door. "Look What the Cat Dragged In" produced some of their best hits including "Cry Tough", "Talk Dirty To Me", "Play Dirty", and "I Want Action". This album took to long before it was released and after two years before the band formed Matt Smith (the guitarist) left the band. Poison began auditioning for a new guitarist and they narrowed it down to three choices, Slash (later would be the guitarist for Guns N' Roses), Steve Silva, and C.C. DeVille. The band chose C.C. even though the lead singer (Bret Michaels) and the bassist (Bobby Dall) didn't get along with C.C. very well. With Bret Michaels on vocals, Rikki Rockett on drums, Bobby Dall on bass, and new guitarist C.C. DeVille on guitar the band released "Look What The Cat Dragged In", "Open Up And Say...Ahh!!", and "Flesh And Blood". these were the bands three strongest albums producing hit singles such as "Every Rose Has It's Thorn's", "Unskinny Bop", "Talk Dirty To Me" and many more.
After the release of "Flesh And Blood" tensions were running high between the band and C.C. DeVille. C.C. had a cocaine addiction which led to constant fighting between him and Bret Michaels. Backstage at the 1991 MTV music award show DeVille and Michaels got into a fist fight, and when they went on stage set to play "Unskinny Bop", DeVille began playing "Talk Dirty To Me", this was the last straw for the band, and DeVille was fired and replaced by Richie Kotzen. Poison's fourth album "Native Tongue" was far different from their previous album's. "Native Tongue" had a blues type rock to it where as the previous three albums had more of a glam metal, hard rock feel. Kotzen was kicked out of the band when it was discovered he was involved with Rockett's fiance and replaced by Blue's Saraceno. During the recording period of the album "Crack A Smile" Michaels crashed his car breaking ribs, fingers, his nose, and jaw. The album was shelved and later released their first greatest hits album. Michaels and DeVille worked out their difference and Deville was brought back into the band in 1996, and the line up hasn't changed since. The band has released 15 albums including 2 live albums four greatest hits albums, and a box set of cd's.

currently in 70's and 80's music.

2012 is exploding with concerts from 70's and 80's bands and some big albums are being released. In 2011 Bon jovi finished with the second highest grossing tour behind U2, and in 2010 Bon Jovi had the highest grossing tour with U2 behind them, neither of these bands are set to tour in 2012. However in 2012 many other big name bands are going on tour. Styx is touring with REO Speedwago and Ted Nugent, Def Leppard is touring with Poison, Motley Crue is touring with Kiss, Aerosmith is touring with Cheap Trick, Journey's touring with Pat Benetar, Foreigner is touring, the Eagles are touring, Bruce Springsteen is touring, Van Halen is touring, as well as plenty of other bands. Van Halen has released their 12th album "A Different Kind of Truth", and Bruce Springsteen released his 17th album "Wrecking Ball".

Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi started in 1983 rocking into the world with their first big hit single "Runaway". In 1984 the debut album "Bon Jovi" was released which did not fair to well commercially. In 1985 The band released their second album "7800 degrees Fahrenheit" which was a huge bust as well. In 1986 Bon Jovi finally got their taste of huge fame with the release of "Slippery When Wet" thanks to Desmond Child helping Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora write most of the songs on the album. Every album following "Slippery When Wet" except "Bounce" has been a huge success. They have released 15 albums together including 2 greatest hits albums, a live album, and an acoustic version album. They also released a box set of previously unreleased music and outtakes from previous albums. in 1990 and in 1997-1999 the band took a break to pursue their own interest's during which time Richie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi have both released two solo albums, Jon releasing "Blaze of Glory" the sound track for the movie "Young Guns 2" and "Destination Anywhere"and Richie released "Stranger in this Town" and "Undiscovered Soul". The band's lineup hasn't change much over the past 29 years. Jon Bon Jovi has been the lead singer since 1983, and he formed the band, David Bryan has been the keyboardist since 1983, Tico Torres has been the drummer since 1983, and Richie Sambora has been the guitarist since 1983. In 1983, before Sambora, Dave Sabo (now the guitarist for "Skid Row") played guitar in the single "Runaway". Alec John Such played Bass from 1983- 1994 when he had to leave the band after crashing his motorcycle ruined his bass skills, and Hugh McDonald took his place, but McDonald is not an official member of the band. Bon Jovi is my personal favorite band, with their rock and hard rock style setting them some what apart from other 80s rock bands.

Music

Music has been around for centuries but rock music didn't show up until the late 60s and early 70s. Some of the heaviest influences on this musics time period included Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Led Zepplin, and The Eagles. From here music picked up with a lot of Rock bands starting in the 70's, bands like AC/DC, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Foreigner, Journey, Kiss, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pink Floyd, Def Leppard, and many more. Music didn't slow down in the 80's either with huge bands including Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Poison, Guns N' Roses, and more. Not long after the 80's music took a turn for the worse with rappers and pop musicians slowly beginning to rise. By the 90's there were very few new rock bands showing up, and very few rock bands lasting much past the early 90's. Although many 70's and 80's bands still release new albums, and still tour, they can't seem to overcome modern music.
