Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi started in 1983 rocking into the world with their first big hit single "Runaway". In 1984 the debut album "Bon Jovi" was released which did not fair to well commercially. In 1985 The band released their second album "7800 degrees Fahrenheit" which was a huge bust as well. In 1986 Bon Jovi finally got their taste of huge fame with the release of "Slippery When Wet" thanks to Desmond Child helping Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora write most of the songs on the album. Every album following "Slippery When Wet" except "Bounce" has been a huge success. They have released 15 albums together including 2 greatest hits albums, a live album, and an acoustic version album. They also released a box set of previously unreleased music and outtakes from previous albums. in 1990 and in 1997-1999 the band took a break to pursue their own interest's during which time Richie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi have both released two solo albums, Jon releasing "Blaze of Glory" the sound track for the movie "Young Guns 2" and "Destination Anywhere"and Richie released "Stranger in this Town" and "Undiscovered Soul". The band's lineup hasn't change much over the past 29 years. Jon Bon Jovi has been the lead singer since 1983, and he formed the band, David Bryan has been the keyboardist since 1983, Tico Torres has been the drummer since 1983, and Richie Sambora has been the guitarist since 1983. In 1983, before Sambora, Dave Sabo (now the guitarist for "Skid Row") played guitar in the single "Runaway". Alec John Such played Bass from 1983- 1994 when he had to leave the band after crashing his motorcycle ruined his bass skills, and Hugh McDonald took his place, but McDonald is not an official member of the band. Bon Jovi is my personal favorite band, with their rock and hard rock style setting them some what apart from other 80s rock bands.

  1. Very interesting. I had no idea that Bon Jovi was an 80's band. I guess you learn something new every day!
